What is senior living SEO?

Senior living SEO is search engine optimization for assisted living, memory care, independent living and retirement communities. It puts your community in Google Search, Google Maps and AI answers when adult children search for care, and it is measured in inquiries and booked tours. Lifted Websites charges $800 a month per community, or $2,000 a month for up to three.

Most senior living SEO pages on this search are blog posts from agencies that never show a price. This page does three things they don't: it shows exactly what we charge per community, it explains how families search at each stage of the decision, and it tells you plainly where we are in this industry. Senior living is a new vertical for us. Healthcare is not: we run SEO for dentists, OB-GYNs and other medical practices, along with multi-location local SEO, call tracking and AI search work, and that is most of what moves occupancy in search.

How families search for senior living

The person searching is usually not the future resident. It is a daughter or son, often in another city, often after a fall or a hospital discharge. The search moves through three stages, and each one needs a different page to win it:

StageWhat they typeWhat wins it
Worry"signs mom needs memory care," "assisted living vs home care"Care-level guides written for the adult child, answer in the first paragraph
Shortlist"assisted living near me," "memory care Scottsdale," "assisted living cost Mesa"A Google Business Profile in the map pack, reviews, one page per care level and city, a published starting price
Decide"[community name] reviews," "[community name] pricing"Owning your own brand search, review replies, and a tour form that works on a phone

Generic local SEO stops at the middle row. Senior living needs all three, because the decision often runs for weeks and several family members read the same pages before anyone calls.

The referral directory problem

For many shortlist searches, the first results a family sees are referral and review sites: A Place for Mom, Caring.com and SeniorAdvisor.com among them. Referral services are paid by the community when a family they referred moves in. Every inquiry that reaches you through your own website or Google Business Profile carries no referral fee.

AI answers make the directories matter more, not less. In our October 2026 study of 1,575 ChatGPT answers, 82.2% of the links ChatGPT cited for city searches went to directories and "best of" lists, and 14.1% went to the businesses' own websites. That study covered one trade in one metro, not senior living, so treat it as a strong hint rather than a measurement for your market. The practical move is the same: keep your directory profiles complete and accurate, because AI reads them, and build your own care-level pages so the family can choose you directly.

💡 Families use AI, then check Google

BrightLocal found that 45% of consumers used generative AI for local business recommendations in the past year, and that most AI users then go to Google to verify what they were told (BrightLocal, 2026). A community that is named by ChatGPT but has a thin Google Business Profile loses the family at the verification step.

What our senior living SEO includes

Every plan covers Google organic, the map pack and AI answers together. The work, in the order we do it:

  • One managed Google Business Profile per community. The right primary category for your care level, accurate hours and tour booking links, real photos, posts, and a reply to every review. See our Google Business Profile optimization process.
  • A page for each care level. Independent living, assisted living, memory care and respite care get separate pages, because families search for each one differently.
  • Location pages that pass the swap test. A page for each city you draw residents from, built on real local detail, not a template with the city name changed.
  • Cost content. Families search for prices before they call. A published "starting at" figure or a clear explanation of how your pricing works keeps them on your site instead of a directory.
  • Directory and citation cleanup. Consistent name, address and phone on every listing AI tools read.
  • Tracking to the tour. CallRail call tracking and form tracking, reported as inquiries and booked tours, and connected to your senior living CRM if you use one.
⚠️ Be careful with ad pixels on care pages

A family filling out a memory care inquiry form may share health details about a parent. We set up tracking so conversion data reaches your reports without sending sensitive form contents to ad platforms. If your community has a compliance officer, we work through the setup with them before launch.

Senior living SEO pricing

Pricing follows managed Google Business Profiles, which for senior living means one per community. It is the same in any metro or state.

Senior living SEO in Arizona

We are based in Scottsdale, inside one of the largest retirement markets in the country. Arizona's Department of Health Services licenses two kinds of assisted living: assisted living homes, which serve 10 or fewer residents and are often converted houses in residential neighborhoods, and assisted living centers, which serve 11 or more (ADHS). That split shapes local search here. A six-bed home in north Scottsdale competes in the same map pack as a 120-unit center in Sun City West, and small homes with strong reviews can win it.

Arizona families also search on a seasonal clock. Many residents of Sun City, Sun Lakes, Surprise and Mesa have adult children in the Midwest who visit over the holidays and start the search after the trip. Content and Google Business Profile posts timed to that window matter more here than in most markets. We cover the Phoenix metro in person, and South Jersey and Philadelphia through our second market.

Healthcare experience that carries over

Senior living is a new vertical for Lifted Websites in 2026. Healthcare is not. We run SEO for dentists, OB-GYNs and other medical practices, and the work that wins a patient's call is the same work that wins a family's tour request:

  • Trust content for an anxious reader. Pages that answer the hard question first (cost, care level, what happens next), written for the person making the decision.
  • Reviews as a ranking and conversion signal. A steady review process and a reply to every review, good or bad.
  • Privacy-aware tracking. Calls and forms measured without sending sensitive details to ad platforms.
  • Multi-location management. A separate Google Business Profile, page set and report line for each location, under one strategy.

AI-sourced calls deserve extra attention in this business. Across 26 of our client company profiles in CallRail in Q3 2026, 82% of calls that came from AI assistants were first-time callers, against 57% of all calls (AI search statistics). How we approach practices is on our medical SEO and SEO for dentists pages.

⚠️ SEO won't fill a room this month

Expect first movement in Google Maps and search in 60 to 90 days and meaningful growth in inquiries in 3 to 6 months. If you have empty units now, pair SEO with Google Ads while rankings build. Nobody can guarantee a map pack spot or a ChatGPT mention.

Senior living SEO FAQs

What is senior living SEO?

Senior living SEO is search engine optimization for assisted living, memory care, independent living and retirement communities. It puts a community in Google Search, Google Maps and AI answers when adult children and seniors search for care, and it is measured in inquiries and booked tours, not rankings.

How much does senior living SEO cost?

At Lifted Websites, senior living SEO costs $800 a month for one community with one Google Business Profile, $2,000 a month on Multi-Local Plus for up to three communities, and $800 a month for each community after the third. Six communities is $4,400 a month. Competitive metros run $3,000 to $10,000+ a month.

How long does senior living SEO take to work?

Most communities see first movement in Google Maps and search in 60 to 90 days, and meaningful growth in inquiries in 3 to 6 months. Crowded metros and brand-new websites take longer. Paid search can cover the gap while organic rankings build.

Do you do assisted living SEO and memory care SEO?

Yes. Each care level gets its own page and keyword plan, because families search for assisted living, memory care, independent living and respite care differently. A community that offers several care levels needs a page for each one, plus a page for each city it serves.

Do you have experience in healthcare marketing?

Yes. Lifted Websites runs SEO for dentists, OB-GYNs and other medical practices. Senior living is a newer vertical for us in 2026, and the same methods carry over: Google Business Profile management, care-level and location pages, privacy-aware call and form tracking, review management, and AI search work.

Can SEO reduce what we pay referral services like A Place for Mom?

It can reduce how much you depend on them. Referral services charge communities a fee when a referred family moves in. An inquiry that comes from your own website or Google Business Profile carries no referral fee. Most communities keep some referral partners and use SEO to grow the share of move-ins they own.
