He first starts off on what a search engine has to do to become the world’s best search engine. There are three key components to that.

You have to crawl the web comprehensively and deeply

You have to index those pages

And then you have to rank or serve those pages and return the most relevant ones first.

He then says a website that has the most “PageRank” which is when a site has the most links from reputable other websites linking to them is a primary determinant. Translation here is get quality, highly trusted websites that are relevant to what you do to link to you.

This is why link building is one of the most crucial parts of SEO and you will always here “content is king” because if you create killer content people will want to link to you naturally. This is easier for big brands but not as easy for a local small business as an example.

Here is Matt Cutts Google Webmaster Help Video on How Google Search Works

Google Adwords is one of the best ways to target new business and customers searching with keywords that are related to your business or service. When you have a Google Pay Per Click program set up you can bid on keywords with Broad, Exact, or Phrase matches. If you don’t know what this is or means you should probably hire a company like our to manage your pay per click campaigns to get the best results and higher quality scores.

For the people that do know the difference between exact and phrase match you can now bid with these keyword matches and still catch misspelled words. Google Adwords is launching this mid may. Here is there quote from their landing page for these new improvements.

When people search for your products or services, they probably misspell a word every so often. In mid-May, we’re making improvements to our exact and phrase matching options so your ad will be eligible to show when people search for close variants — yes, that includes misspellings — of your keywords. In addition to misspellings, other close variants include singular and plural forms, acronyms, stemmings (such as floor and flooring), abbreviations, and accents.

With our improved exact matching and phrase matching, you can better target your ads, helping to improve your clicks and impressions.

Improvements to exact match and phrase match

With our improved exact and phrase matching, we’ll also show your ad when someone searches for close variants of your exact match and phrase match keyword. This means you can broaden your reach to customers who search for close variants of your keywords, while still having more precise control over which search terms trigger your ads.

Example

Exact match keyword

Ads may show on searches for

Ads won’t show on searches for

[tennis shoes]

tennis shoes
tenis shoe

red tennis shoes
buy tennis shoes

Phrase match keyword

Ads may show on searches for

Ads won’t show on searches for

“tennis shoes”

red tennis shoes

shoes for tennis

We have even built dental websites for oral surgeons and dental related companies. The top reasons dentists have us manage a dental website for them is time, expertise, and money.

In today’s digital age patients are searching online and looking for the best dentists in their area that have credible, updated websites. When they click on your website from a Pay per click ad on Google or from the first page of their results they will click through multiple dental websites searching for certain aspects of your website.

Some of the top things to consider on your dental website and why we manage them for you are the following;

Call to Action (you should have something that tells the patient to call or fill out a form to schedule an appointment)

Phone Number and Address (most people searching want to know where you are and how to reach you by phone

Pictures and or Videos (images are a must they help make your dental website pop and stand out)

Easy to read simple content and pages (not using 50 pages and overwhelming content can help convert better)

Credibility (using association, educational, or trustworthy logos add more trust)

Testimonials/Reviews (add at least one or two testimonials or reviews from patients) – we can link to your Google Places where your reviews are listed as well.

Easy Navigation (we can make it easy for patients to find enough information to call you for an appointment)

Before/After Picture Gallery (if you offer Veneers for example a before and after gallery can help you get more patients)

Social Proof (if you add a Twitter/Facebook button to your site we can help set it up and show social proof)

Blog (updated content with articles that answer your top FAQs can help your dental website)

As you can see having a dental website can be cumbersome but can be a great investment if managed right by a company similar to ours that offers these services. We own a dental website design company that has helped dentists across the country.

If you need a dental website or want a quote call 888-863-7421 or fill out our quick contact form.

Yeah I know, you went to login to Pinterest and you found their 502 “fail whale” because their server can’t handle all the people and traffic.

But have you thought about how much time and effort you are putting into building their website vs having your own website or blog? Don’t get me wrong Pinterest is cool, it’s like the online Vision Board of the Secret. I’m not saying not to use it but in this moment of waiting for Pinterest to come back up maybe it’s time to have your own “pinterest” of sorts.

I’m not saying copy Pinterest either and build your own website using a Pinterest WordPress theme although you can now. Instead how about using some of time you spend on Pinterest and other social networking sites by building your own space on the web.

The one thing that is constant is change. And we have already seen new startups become hot and then go away. Remember Gowalla? Remember Friendster and Myspace?

Why not build a website or a blog that you own and control and will always be there for you when you want to publish your thoughts, share videos or pictures, help you get a job, or create a business with?

If you want to start investing some time and money into your own website we would be glad to help lead the way. We can make, market, and manage the website or blog for you and help you invest your online time into something you own.

Who knows maybe you can start your own digital marketing agency or get into social media marketing?

Matt Cutts gives advice on using multiple domains or having microsites. The main point is to make sure every website or microsite is unique with different content and layouts. Also, make sure you have enough time to build trust and reputation for each domain and microsite you launch.

If you don’t give as much love to one website as you do to another it shows and sometimes it would be more useful putting all the energy into one website. Think about having a microsite for a different purpose, not to promote the same product or services.
